Our story

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet

Ours is a family-run organic farm founded in 1960, when great-grandfather Giovanni decided to change his life.
We are located in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, in the heart of Chianti, exactly halfway between Florence and Siena.

The name Poggio al Bosco has a very close connection with the territory, since poggio in Tuscan means hill and our vineyards are nestled on a hill surrounded by green woods.

TRADITION

The winemaking tradition has been passed down from generation to generation, and after centuries of sharecropping, in 1960, grandfather Giovanni and his sons Primo and Mario purchased the land from this company and became its direct farmers, finally having complete and full control of the land.

In those years, they began planting the company’s first vineyards, meticulously caring for each individual plant and creating a quality product with passion in every gesture. Today, we continue with the same dedication, following in our grandparents’ footsteps: the nature of the soil and the excellent exposure are the characteristics that allow us to maintain the ancient winemaking tradition intact.

CHIANTI

In the heart of Tuscany, between the cities of Florence and Siena, lies the Chianti region. The word itself is enough to evoke evocative landscapes of rolling hills and valleys covered in olive groves and vineyards, dotted with tall cypress trees, farmhouses, and medieval villages.

But Chianti, as we know, is not only a feast for the eyes, but also for the palate: its famous wines, celebrated throughout the world, are ideal to accompany the typical dishes of our region. Wine is the crown jewel of Chianti production, but other highlights include olive oil and a myriad of local products, including cured meats and cheeses.

And what about the history behind this region? Visiting Chianti also means following in the footsteps of its most ancient inhabitants, the Etruscans, discovering its vast artistic heritage preserved in small local museums, or retracing its more recent history and following the trail of castles and ancient parish churches.
